Ceftriaxone injection

Ceftriaxone injection

Ceftriaxone injection is an antibiotic medication used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections.

Mechanism of Action: Ceftriaxone belongs to the cephalosporin class of antibiotics. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, which are essential for the survival of bacteria. Ceftriaxone binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) on the bacterial cell wall, leading to the disruption of cell wall formation, cell lysis, and ultimately bacterial death.

Indications: Ceftriaxone injection is used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It is effective against a wide range of bacterial infections, including:

Lower respiratory tract infections (such as pneumonia)
Urinary tract infections (such as cystitis)
Skin and soft tissue infections
Bone and joint infections
Intra-abdominal infections
Bacterial meningitis
Gonorrhea
Lyme disease
Septicemia (bloodstream infections)
