Ceftriaxone and Sulbactam injection
Ceftriaxone and Sulbactam injection is a combination medication used to treat bacterial infections.
Ceftriaxone: Ceftriaxone is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, which are essential for bacterial survival. Ceftriaxone is effective against a wide range of bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, intra-abdominal infections, bacterial meningitis, and sexually transmitted infections like gonorrhea. It is usually administered intravenously or intramuscularly.
Sulbactam: Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. It works by inhibiting the action of beta-lactamase enzymes produced by some bacteria. Beta-lactamase enzymes can inactivate certain antibiotics, including cephalosporins like ceftriaxone. By inhibiting beta-lactamase enzymes, sulbactam helps to extend the spectrum of activity of ceftriaxone against bacteria that produce these enzymes.
