Amoxicillin and Potassium Clavulanate injection
Amoxicillin and Potassium Clavulanate injection is a combination antibiotic medication used to treat bacterial infections. It contains two active ingredients:
Amoxicillin: Amoxicillin is a penicillin-type antibiotic that works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. It is effective against a wide range of bacteria and is commonly used to treat infections such as respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, ear infections, sinus infections, and skin infections.
Potassium Clavulanate: Potassium clavulanate is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. It works by preventing certain bacteria from inactivating amoxicillin. Beta-lactamase enzymes are produced by some bacteria to break down penicillin-type antibiotics like amoxicillin, rendering them ineffective. By inhibiting beta-lactamase enzymes, potassium clavulanate helps to enhance the effectiveness of amoxicillin against a broader spectrum of bacteria.
