Meropenem injection

Meropenem injection

Meropenem injection is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections. It belongs to the class of antibiotics known as carbapenems. Here’s some information about Meropenem injection:

Mechanism of Action: Meropenem works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. It binds to specific proteins called penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) that are essential for the formation of the bacterial cell wall. By interfering with cell wall synthesis, Meropenem weakens the bacterial cell wall, leading to cell lysis and ultimately bacterial death.

Indications: Meropenem is used to treat a variety of severe bacterial infections, including:

Pneumonia
Intra-abdominal infections
Skin and soft tissue infections
Bacterial meningitis
Septicemia (bloodstream infections)
Complicated urinary tract infections
